Our principles for protecting your data
We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing a safe and secure experience for our users.
We record the information we need to provide our services: connecting you with friends and family, and helping you get emergency assistance when you’re in need with enhanced 911 features which may include sharing name, location, and tagged images from your safety event.
The personal information we do collect we store for as short a duration as possible. And, where possible, we store only de-identified or aggregate data that is not tied to you.
We have specific systems to control data access, and all access is logged and regularly audited. We use physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect the Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and after we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use reasonable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

User activity.
We aggregate user activity data (like how you interact with Protect, what times you use Protect, what kind of device you have, etc.) for analysis to improve Protect’s user experience.
Audio and video feed.
If you use Protect Premium, you may share an audio and video feed from your device with Protect agents and your emergency contacts when you’re feeling unsafe. We also record your audio and video conversations and physical likeness for quality assurance and legal purposes.

Protect uses cookies to collect information on its website. We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to tailor your experience with Protect, and advertise Protect on third-party websites and apps. We also work with Facebook, Google and other third-party ads integrations. These integrations allow us to track the efficacy of our own advertising campaigns across the web. We do not use these integrations to provide any manner of third-party advertising on the platform.
Protect does not allow third parties to collect information directly from users of the Application.

How long we retain your data
We retain personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, or an individual requests that we delete information about them.
How we protect your data

California law requires that operators of website and online services disclose how they respond to a Do Not Track signal and whether other third parties may collect personally identifiable information about an individual’s online activities from their site or service.
Some browsers have incorporated “Do Not Track” features. Most of these features, when turned on, send a signal or preference to the website or online service that a user visits, indicating that the user does not wish to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret Do Not Track signals, Protect does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
Please note that some features of Protect may not function properly when cookies are disabled or removed. For more information regarding Do Not Track mechanisms, see http://allaboutdnt.com/.
Accessing or correcting your information. You may request to review and update the information Protect maintains about you by submitting a request to support@meetprotect.com.
Opting out of location tracking. If you initially consented to the collection of geo-location information through Protect, you can subsequently stop the collection of this information at any time by changing the preferences on your mobile device. Please note, however, that if you withdraw consent to Protect’s collection of location information, you may no longer be able to use some features of the app.
Notice to California users
You may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) to provide to California residents an explanation of how we collect, use and share their personal Information, and of the rights and choices we offer California residents regarding our handling of their personal information.
This notice and the privacy rights it describes do not apply to information related to our business contacts, job applicants, or employees.
How to Submit a Request
To request access to or deletion of personal information: US. Email: support@meetprotect.com
Identity verification. We will need to confirm your identity and California residency to process your requests to exercise your information, access or deletion rights. We cannot process your request if you do not provide us with sufficient detail to allow us to understand and respond to it.
Authorized agents. California residents can empower an “authorized agent” to submit requests on their behalf. We will require the authorized agent to have a written authorization confirming that authority.
Children
Protect does not intentionally gather personal information about visitors who are under the age of 13. Furthermore, Protect does not intentionally allow visitors under the age of 18 to register for the app directly without being invited by a parent/guardian. If a child under 13 submits personal information to Protect and Protect learns that the personal information is the information of a child under 13 that was not invited by a parent or a guardian, Protect will attempt to delete the information as soon as possible. If you believe that Protect might have any personal information from a child under 13, please contact Protect at: support@meetprotect.com.
Privacy Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy is subject to occasional revision. Protect will notify you of any material changes in its collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information by posting a notice on the Protect website and/or within the application. Such changes will be effective ten (10) days thereafter, and your continued use of the Application means that you agree to be bound by the changes. We encourage you to review it periodically.
Security
Protect has taken security measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your personal data. We make every effort to maintain security measures appropriate to the level of risk associated with the processing of personal data.
We are continually working to improve our security practices to ensure that your data is safe. Your personal data is stored on secure servers. We implement, and require our subcontractors and partners to implement, appropriate security and data protection measures in line with the latest technology.
